In 1991, when plans for the Chester Valley Trail were announced, Ingrid Cantarella-Fox and her husband, Dennis, were thrilled. He could ride his bike on it, and she could go for a run. CHESTER VALLEY TRAIL EXTENSION PUBLIC MEETING AND OPEN HOUSE

When: Monday, November 5, 2007 at 7:00p-8:30p
Where: UPPER MERION TOWNSHIP BUILDING, 175 W. Valley Forge Road, King of Prussia, PA

The Chester Valley Trail is being built through Montgomery County and Chester County in the next few years. Already, the trail is built from South Gulph Road at Bill Smith Boulevard to Warner Road. In Montgomery County the Trail will go over South Gulph Road and extend past Bill Smith Boulevard, through the PECO Corridor to Henderson Road. It will will cross over Henderson Road and then under the Pennsylvania Turnpike as it goes toward Rt. 202 along Saulin Boulevard. After Crossing Rt. 202, it will follow the old railroad for a short distance and then enter Bridgeport Borough at Ross Road and Quary Road. Finally, it will enter Norristown on the DeKalb Street Bridge and make the connection to the existing Schuylkill River Trail. This is your opportunity to see how the Chester Valley Trail will come through Upper Merion and to let our design team know if you have any concerns. The design is being finalized now, in preparation for 2008-9 construction. This is an exciting opportunity for Upper Merion to become connected to the County Regional Trail system and eventually to the larger Chester Valley Trail, which will eventually extend all the way to Downingtown!
